great job as usual Jay. Another facet I find despicable is the use of "women's health" or "reproductive rights" terms associated with this topic. Plus the use of government (federal & state) funding is immoral. Your sensitivity to situations is proper. And dialog with love is critical. thanks for addressing this.
Good message on abortion. I sharpened my view, many, many years ago after much study. Something as important as this, deserves logic and reason. I wish that everyone who agree.
The reason is that no argument FOR abortion on demand, stands up to scrutiny; Each one falls apart under any questioning, and use of exactly the same logic and arguments, that are used to favor it. The arguments predictably go in circles, are eventually are distilled, and return to the fact that anyone supporting abortion or "choice", wants abortion to have no restrictions. Deep inside their value system and morality, they believe that.
And this, despite anything they say about having reasonable guidelines For the majority, There is always an attempt to sound "reasonable", and to paint the Pro-life crowd as extreme. They use the argument fallacies of special pleading, false cause, and straw-man routinely. If properly questioned, proponents arguments for unlimited abortion, always jump from one fallacy to another. Until finally, all reasons are exhausted and exposed, and killing for convenience of the living is revealed. The final argument is the ad-hominem attack upon the revealer of this truth.
Because this subject is one of emotion and not truth for proponents, there is no way that any discussion will ever change the mind (or rarely), of anyone; You can't argue facts and logic while someone argues emotion. This is especially true if they have had an abortion. Most people simply cannot say “I was wrong and I am sorry for what I chose to do”. That speaks to the failings of human nature in most people. It does happen, but it is rare.
The facts about this and much else, don’t matter--It’s cognitive dissonance on a grand scale.
Thank you for your thoughtful reply and post. I tried to lay out that logic issue, as that was a journey that I myself took. I couldn't rectify the disconnect between what I believed and where I was from a policy position. Trying to finally led me to my pro-life position, which many (I guess) would find extreme. If a life is a life, and life matters, then you cannot justify taking it at any stage or for any reason. I know that is tough for people to hear, but that is where I am. As for changing minds - I am more optimistic, given so many have taken the same journey I have. We can only hope.
Agreed on the last point. Even abortion doctors have changed their minds on this. I think the first step is having an open mind and making the decision to make a decision based on critical thought. We have too many people seduced by mis-placed compassion. In this case, it’s the compassion for a person’s circumstance instead of a life. This is one reason that the “arguments” don’t hold up. Such as the “child will be poor” or “we have a terrible foster system”. None can withstand scrutiny. But first a person has to be willing to listen, and be willing to admit they may in fact, be wrong. This is rare, as mentioned.
Thank you for taking the time and putting in the effort to write this. I wouldn't change a word.
Thank you, Thomas - and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Thank you Bob - well stated. All the best to you!
Well composed, compassionate yet truthful.
Thank you!
I applaud your effort to take on a difficult and fraught topic.
Thank you. I wrote it multiple times and it used to be much longer. Just felt I needed to say it.
Excellent.
Thank you!
